Safer Beauty Products

About a year and a half ago I was introduced to a friend, Marissa, who made me aware of the harmful chemicals that were in the products I use everyday. I've always tried to take care of myself in a healthy way, eating right and exercising, but it blew my mind when she told me about how unregulated the Beauty Industry was. As an entertainer, I wear makeup every time I'm onstage. It makes me feel ready to face the crowd and more confident in myself. I partnered with an incredible women run company called Beautycounter in an effort to share the knowledge of harmful ingredients in everyday products, and to advocate for a safer beauty industry. The first step to making a change for the greater good is knowing that there is a problem in the first place! Educating fellow shoppers that there are safer items available for not only yourself, but for your children as well is important to me. If you have an extra five minutes, I highly suggest that you read this to fully understand why I love this company, it's Beautycounter's very first Corporate Social Responsibility Report (Toward Better Beauty). It gives a great summary about what Beautycounter is truly about and their mission for a more regulated product supply chain, as well as how they source and screen their ingredients.

I know that the products I use get absorbed almost instantly into my blood stream and I don't want to put toxic chemicals in my body if I can help it. I also know that safer beauty products can be expensive and sometimes unaffordable to many people. I am grateful that I can help make other people aware of an issue they may not have given much thought to before. When I walk into a store like CVS or Sephora I can look at the back of a product and read the ingredients (if they're even listed) and know that what I may purchase could cause harm to my body. There are so many new lines of products these days that are non-toxic and the fact that we are seeing more, means more people are concerned about what goes on and into their bodies. YAY!! Other companies like Lush, RMS Beauty, Herbivore Botanicals, Clary Collection, S.W. Basics, and Biosannce are killing it with the clean beauty! It's time for you to get on the clean beauty train, people! It's time for change!
